TRIBUTE TO ROBERT L. McNAUGHTON
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Robert L. McNaughton, an outstanding citizen and member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. McNaughton served Army with distinction in the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during the Korean conflict; and
WHEREAS, A plumber by trade and a proud member of the Chicago Journeyman Plumbers Local 130 United Association, Robert L. McNaughton and his wife, Norine, were blessed with eight sons and five daughters, one of whom, Loretta, has preceded him in passing; and
WHEREAS, Four of Robert L. McNaughton's sons have contributed to the civic commonweal by becoming members of the Chicago Police and Fire Departments. His second son, David, is currently the 16th District Police Commander. Sons Martin and Thomas are police officers while John and Edward serve as firefighters; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. McNaughton leaves behind to mourn his loss and celebrate his legacy his wife and 12 of his 13 children; sons Michael, David, John, Brian, Martin, Dennis, Brendan, Thomas and Edward; daughters, Kathleen Byrne, Eileen Byrne, Patricia McHugh and Maureen Haran; sister, Mary Pollice; brother James McNaughton; 31 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and many fond friends; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patrick J. Levar, Alderman ofthe 45th Ward, and the Honorable Timothy M. Cullerton, Alderman of the 38 Ward have informed this august body of the passing of Robert L. McNaughton; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 4th Day of May, 2011 AD, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passage of this remarkable citizen and extend our deepest condolence to his great family and all those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Robert L. McNaughton.
