RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-one; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen was a retired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of the late Dorothy; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen was the much-adored father of Susan, Nancy, William Jr., Linda, Robert, Thomas, Marianne, Daniel, Donna and Scott and the beloved grandfather of twenty-seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen was dear brother of Dolores, Donna and the late Leonard; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen ably served as a valued member of the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Commander; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen devoted thirty years of his life in service to the people of Chicago, personally ensuring that this city remains a safe, healthy, and vibrant community; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, dedication and sacrifice of William L. Olsen serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared William L. Olsen to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, William L. Olsen will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William L. Olsen imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate William L. Olsen for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William L. Olsen.
