RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Ride for AIDS Chicago is a yearly two-day, 200 mile bicycling fundraising event produced by TPAN (Test Positive Aware Network) in which 100% of the participant-generated money raised goes to providing services to people with HIV/AIDS; and,
 
WHEREAS, Ride for AIDS Chicago and its participants increase awareness about HIV/AIDS, raise much needed funds for HIV/AIDS services, and help diminish the stigma and shame associated with HIV/AIDS; and,
 
WHEREAS, In 2013 Ride for AIDS Chicago is celebrating its tenth anniversary with more than 400 registered participants and hundreds of volunteers; and,
 
WHEREAS, Over its 10-year history Ride for AIDS Chicago has raised nearly $2 million for HIV/AIDS; and,
 
WHEREAS, Ride for AIDS Chicago will be held during the weekend of July 13 and 14, 2013; and,
 
WHEREAS, TPAN, the organization producing the Ride, has been serving the HIV/AIDS community in Chicago for more than 25 years; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-sixth day of June, 2013, salute Ride for AIDS Chicago 2013 participants and volunteers on their commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to Ride for AIDS Chicago, TPAN and their beneficiaries.
