MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has called Irene J. Stanko, nee Feciura, born on June 11,1925, an outstanding citizen and beloved friend, was called by God to her eternal reward on June 25, 2011, at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this kind and caring lady's passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Irene J. Stanko was an active and vital member of her community. The loving mother of Robert, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor of many; Irene J. Stanko leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Irene J. Stanko was a member of the Mayfair Lutheran Church, Women's Guild, John Palmer Local School Council; was extremely active in the Mayfair Femalions and the Chicago Mayfair Lions Club, holding many offices during her twenty-one years of service; and
WHEREAS, Irene J. Stanko was a school aide for twenty years, helping children with reading and listening, always with a smile of encouragement, patience and a helping hand; and
WHEREAS, Irene J. Stanko, will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character imparts a legacy of love, faithfulness, intelligence, service to others, understanding, compassion and dignity in a grace-filled life that will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Irene J. Stanko and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Irene J. Stanko.
