RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 11™ ANNIVERSARY OF PASTOR ELDER EDWARD E. SILAS SR.
. WHEREAS, Pastor Elder Edward E. Silas, Sr., an outstanding spiritual leader and member of his community, is celebrating his lllh Anniversary as Pastor of Progressive Way Mission COGIC; and
WHEREAS, This honorable body has been informed ofthe tremendous contributions Pastor Elder Edward E. Silas, Sr. has made and continues to make to his grateful community by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Our great city of Chicago is enriched by the presence and inspiring influence of its great religious leaders and institutions; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Elder Edward E. Silas, Sr came to Progressive Way Mission COGIC 30 years ago. His main purpose was to have his son christened. However, God had a different plan, he came for a christening and on the same day God convicted him and he gave his life fully to Christ. Five months later while in Prayer and Bible band, he was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost and accepted the call from God to join the ministry; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Elder Edward E. Silas, Sr. was a faithful minister assisting (the late) Adm. Asst. Obe Hendricks, who groomed and trained him for this very mission today; and
WHEREAS, In January of 2005 he was ordained and appointed to be the Pastor of Progressive Way Mission by Bishop Robert R. Sanders and readily accepted this responsibility. Since this time has membership and choir has grown. Pastor Elder Edward E. Silas, Sr. has a vision of future program, mainly rebuilding the temple, but most importantly winning souls for Christ; and
WHEREAS, A spiritual leader with inspired and inspiring credentials, Pastor Silas, Sr. is a dynamic individual whose fervor for the Lord is contagious, whose devotion to God is exceeded only by his good works; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Silas and his lovely, supportive wife, Missionary Delphine, joined by their eight children: Ebony, Bernice, Edward Jr. (in spirit), Ever...
