RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Mark P. Donahue has stepped down as President of Lodge No. 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police after serving three consecutive terms in office; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired member of the law enforcement community, Mark P. Donahue joined the Chicago Police Department on January 3rd 1977; and
WHEREAS, Mark P. Donahue ably served for nearly twenty years' in the 009th District as a Patrolman, Tact Officer and Field Training Officer.
WHEREAS, In 1996 Mark P. Donahue was promoted to the position of Youth Officer and in 1999 he was assigned to the rank of Detective; and
WHEREAS, In 1996 he was elected to the position of Financial Secretary for Lodge 7 and was elected as a Trustee in 1999; and
WHEREAS, In 2002 Mark P. Donahue was elected to his first term as President of Chicago Lodge 7 and served in that capacity for the maximum three terms; and
WHEREAS, Mark P. Donahue officially retired as a member of the Chicago Police Department on November 15th 2010; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Mark P. Donahue serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby congratulate Mark P. Donahue on his distinguished service as President of Lodge No. 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police and do hereby express our sincere best wishes on the occasion of his retirement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mark P. Donahue.
