Proclamation Making A difference Everywhere
MA.D.E. Foundation Bay August 2021
WHEREAS, Making A Difference Everywhere (M.A.D.E.) Foundation was founded in 2001 with the goal of utilizing various multifimctional programs to assist, at risk youth who range in age from 9-14 years old to establish a positive and productive lifestyle, and
WHEREAS-, M.A.D.E. Foundation's mission is to develop at risk youth into leaders through personal development'programs and create positive role models using sports; and
WHEREAS, Through sporting activities we are able to reach youth during the most vulnerable three hours of the day immediately after school, who are otherwise difficult, if not impossible, to reach via traditional programs; arid
WHEREAS, Our goals and objectives are to develop leadership and life skills in the participants through a variety of activities, including mentorship; and
WHEREAS, 100% ofthe 8th graders in the M.A.D.E. Foundation program graduate from 8th grade compared to just 64.5% ofall Chicago students, and 83% of those participating in the program graduate from high school; and
WHEREAS, JvLAipiE. Foundation students have seen improvements in school aftendance: of; 70%; and;' reductions in in-school suspensions of 71%. And students an 87% decrease in encounters with law enforcement, a possibly lifeTsaving statistic: and
WHEREAS, M.A.D.E. Foundation will celebrateits^O111 Anniversary of being advocates for Chicago Youth this August 5, 2021, while planning for its next 20 years; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor, and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled here this Fourteen Day of September, 2021, do hereby express our Congratulations to M.A.D.E. Foundation :20th Anniversary of being advocates for Chicago Youth this August 5,2021, while planning for its next20 years: and
