SALUTE TO THE INTERFAITH AIRPORT CHAPELS OF CHICAGO
WHEREAS, For 50 years, the O'Hare Airport Chapel has been an oasis of peace and calm in the middle of a venue more noted for noise and bustle. Books of many faiths, rugs, rosaries, and worship material are always available to the general public. All are welcome to come there to bow their heads in prayer or to lift their heart and spirit; and
WHEREAS, The O'Hare Airport Chapel observed its 50th anniversary Monday, November 1, 2010 with a Roman Catholic mass celebrated by His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago, followed by an interfaith banquet at Rosewood Banquets in Rosemont; and
WHEREAS, The current administrator is the Reverend Michael Zaniolo who schedules chaplains of all religious persuasions to provide spiritual counsel for travelers who arrive and depart from this city's international airport; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patrick J. Levar, Alderman of the 45th Ward, has informed this august body of the O'Hare Airport Chapel's half century milestone; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 9th day of February, 2011 A.D., do hereby salute the Interfaith Airport Chapels of Chicago for providing 50 years of spiritual comfort to the O'Hare International Airport traveler.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Father Michael Zaniolo.
