Resolution: Pamela Brandt
WHEREAS, The members of the City Council of Chicago wish to recognize the many accomplishments of Pamela Brandt throughout her career; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Brandt will retire as Principal of Goudy School at the end ofthe 2021-2022 school year; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been notified of her retirement by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Principal Brandt spent over 30 years as a dedicated educator, beginning her career as a third grade teacher and reading coordinator at Jesse Owens Community Academy in Roseland; and
WHEREAS, guided by her passion for reading, she continued working as a reading coordinator at Brentano Math & Science Academy in Logan Square; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, Pamela Brandt joined the team at Goudy School as a reading coordinator, and soon after became the assistant principal; and
WHEREAS, after two years, she became principal of Goudy, where she was a pillar of exceptional leadership and enacted a positive transformation of the school; and
WHEREAS, in her mission to make Goudy a "great place to learn," Principal Brandt helped the school become one of the first magnet schools focused on technology in Chicago, established an engineering lab, and supported the fine arts; and
WHEREAS, Principal Brandt was a devoted educator who worked tirelessly to support the countless students who attended Goudy throughout her tenure, uniting a diverse student body and creating a encouraging environment for all students; and
WHEREAS, Principal Pamela Brandt helped create Goudy's unofficial motto of "love lives here," and lived this motto every day throughout her time as principal; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this day of May 25th, 2022, do hereby express our gratitude for the service of Principal Pamela Brandt, and extend to her our congratulations on her...
