RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Charles ("Charlie") A. Lake Sr. celebrates another year of life at 100 years old; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his birthday by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Charlie was born on October 30,1921; and
WHEREAS, A member of our "greatest generation," Charlie is a resident of Bridgeview; and
WHEREAS, The son of a building contractor, Charlie was raised in Danville, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Charlie served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific; and
WHEREAS, Charlie is a recipient ofthe Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and
WHEREAS, Charlie is the husband ofthe late Mary and raised three children, Mamie, Louise and the late Charles Jr., near 24th Street and Wentworth Avenue; and
WHEREAS, After the war, Charlie worked as a professional painter; and
WHEREAS, Charlie is a valued member of VFW Rhine Post 2729; and
WHEREAS, Charlie volunteered for more than 20 years at-Edward Mines Jr. V.A. Hospital in Maywood; and
WHEREAS, The patriotism, sacrifice and dedication of Charlie serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, He brings honor to his family, friends, and the communities he has dedicated his life; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this fourteenth day of October, 2021, do hereby congratulate Charles A. Lake Sr, for celebrating his 100th birthday and do hereby express he is able to celebrate more years of life; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Charles A. Lake Sr.
