RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Vanderhoof, the former Republican Governor of Colorado, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-one; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Vanderhoof was the loving and devoted husband of the late Ruthie; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Vanderhoof was the beloved father of Bruce, Linda, Tom, Cindy, Kathy and Nancy to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A proud veteran of World War II, the Honorable John Vanderhoof was a fighter pilot in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, After serving twenty years as a Representative in the Colorado State Legislature, including six years as the Speaker of the House, the Honorable John D. Vanderhoof won election as Lieutenant Governor in 1970; and
WHEREAS, In 1973, when Governor John Love stepped down to assume a post in the administration of President Richard M. Nixon, the Honorable John Vanderhoof was sworn in as the thirty-seventh Governor of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, After eighteen months as Governor, the Honorable John Vanderhoof retired from politics, but remained active in business and civic affairs; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable John Vanderhoof serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable John Vanderhoof to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable John Vanderhoof imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
