WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving and devoted husband of Carmen; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. was the much-adored father of Ronald Jr. and Angela and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. lived for many years in the Back of the Yards community on the Southwest Side; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. was raised near 63rd and Troy and attended Marquette Elementary School and Harper High School; and

WHEREAS, After serving as a member of the United States Marine Corps, Ronald Wallace Sr. joined the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. served as a police officer protecting some of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods and public housing developments, including Cabrini Green, Robert Taylor Homes and Stateway Gardens; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. often worked undercover arresting drug dealers and other criminals; and

WHEREAS, One day during the course of his duties Ronald Wallace Sr. discovered a bible in a trash can which led to his conversion and that of his wife; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. played harmonica and encouraged people to discover the joy of music; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Wallace Sr. loved serving in the role of "Officer Friendly" and gave away harmonicas to children as he patrolled his beat; and

WHEREAS, Following a long and distinguished career, Ronald Wallace Sr, retired from the Chicago Police Department in 2000; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Ronald Wallace Sr. serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Ronald Wallace Sr. to his family members, frien...
