RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J. Boyle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-six; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Howell, Michigan, the Honorable Patricia J. Boyle was a widely admired member of the judicial community and the loving wife of the late Terrance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J. Boyle was the much-adored mother of Jeffery Pernick, Jason Pernick, Kurt Pernick, David Pernick and Katty Kerst to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J. Boyle graduated at the top of her class from Wayne State University Law School in the 1960s and was a pioneering female attorney who fought discrimination; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J. Boyle was an Oakland County assistant prosecutor before becoming a U.S. District Court Judge; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J^ Boyle served for fifteen years as a Michigan Supreme Court Justice and officially retired from the bench in 1998; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Patricia J. Boyle serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia J. Boyle will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, the Honorable Patricia J. Boyle imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of February, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Patricia J. Boyle for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Patricia J. Boyle.
