Resolution Honoring Grant Ulysses Scott
WHEREAS, Grant Ulysses Scott's living spirit left the body that we have come to know Thursday, February 18, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Grant Ulysses Scott was born in Chicago on June 29, 1944 and grew up on the West Side of the city; and
WHEREAS, Grant was known throughout the community as a dedicated public servant and leader for his country as a US Marine; and
WHEREAS, he served in the US Marines for 6 years and was stationed on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. He also served as a Chicago Housing Authority police officer, Cook County sheriffs deputy, and security guard at McCormick Place; and
WHEREAS, he was so loved and whose personality made people feel like they never met a stranger; and
WHEREAS, Grant Ulysses Scott was a warm and supportive parent offering daily encouragement to both his daughter and son; and
WHEREAS, the family and friends have deep gratitude and respect for Grant Ulysses Scott for providing love, inspiration, leadership and discipline; and
WHEREAS, he was honored because of his good morals, love for family and hard work; and
WHEREAS, Grant Ulysses Scott is expecting everyone to carry on every good trait and lesson he has taught and instilled in everyone; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here on this 16th day of March 2016 AD, do hereby honor Grant Ulysses Scott for the role he has played in making this world a better place for generations to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this resolution be entered into the official journal and archives ofthe City of Chicago as a testament of his existence, and that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Grant Ulysses Scott.
