RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Richard H. Driehaus has been named the 2015 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed by the American Institute of Architects; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard H. Driehaus will be presented this tribute on Friday, October 23, 2015, during Designight, the 60th Annual Design Excellence Awards to be held at Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard H. Driehaus is the Founder of Driehaus Capital Management, a Chicago-based investment management firm; and

 

WHEREAS, Through his sponsorship and philanthropy, Richard H. Driehaus has demonstrated a dedication to work that betters the public realm in many disciplines; and

 

WHEREAS, The Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture, which has been administered by the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture since it was created in 2003, is but one example of his unwavering commitment to architectural and design excellence; and

 

WHEREAS, The headquarters of Driehaus Capital Management is housed in the landmark Henry Ives Cobb-designed Ransom Cable House on East Erie Street; and

 

WHEREAS, The dedication of Richard H. Driehaus to furtherance of architectural excellence in Chicago serves as an example to all; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of October 2015, do hereby congratulate Richard H. Driehaus on receiving this prestigious honor and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success and prosperity; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richard H. Driehaus.
