MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Paul F. Albert, on November 26, 2013, at the age of eighty two; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

' WHEREAS, Born on September 30, 1931, Paul, who leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love, was the beloved husband of Mary Jo (nee Grealish-Keaney) and the late Dorothea (nee Waldert-Frederich); father of Erika, Heidi (Joe) Fruzyna; stepfather of Peggy (Thomas) Herrington; grandfather "Opa" to many, including Sean, Ryan, and Meghan Herrington; and uncle of many. He was preceded in death by parents Karl and Julia Albert; stepfather Richard Kulleck; and siblings Carl (Kathy Williams), Tom (Jane Lynch), and Jack and Maryann "Dolly" Teece; and

WHEREAS, A Chicago native, Paul was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean conflict; had retired as a member of the Chicago Fire Department for over thirty-six years, the last twenty five as lieutenant at H & L 47 and at Engine 102; and he was a member ofthe North Side Fire Brigade and Brotherhood ofthe Barrel; and

WHEREAS, Paul was an active and vital member of his community who enjoyed black powder shooting; participating in re-enactments and camping in Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin; gardening; leatherwork; and meeting friends at the Gaiter LifeCenter. He always went out of his way to help others and do the right thing. An endless source of wisdom with a quick wit, he was loved by many; and

WHEREAS, Paul will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eleventh day of December 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Paul F. Albert and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
