RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Steve Th. Richard has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Western Springs, Dr. Steve Th. Richard was a widely respected member of the medical community and the loving husband of Dr. Edna, nee Leon; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Steve Th. Richard was the much-adored father of Gina and Tania and the late Melissa and the dear grandfather of six; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Dr. Steve Th. Richard moved to Chicago in the early 1960s after earning a medical degree in his homeland and completing his surgical residency in Montreal, Canada; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Steve Th. Richard served for nearly his entire career as a surgeon at Mercy Hospital in Chicago where for more than forty years he was known for his skill in the operating room and his jovial spirit; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement in 2006, Dr. Steve Th. Richard served as a member of the hospital's Executive Medical Board; and
WHEREAS, A connoisseur of the arts, Dr. Steve Th. Richard was a talented chef and a lover of classical music; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Steve Th. Richard serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Steve Th. Richard was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Steve Th. Richard imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate Dr. Steve Th. Richard for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Steve Th. Richard.
