RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett was an award-winning journalist and a world-class triathlete who will be remembered for her competitive spirit; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett's career spanned four decades at Chicago television stations including WBBM, WLS, WGN and WTTW; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett worked for 20 years as a correspondent for WTTW before retiring in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett covered politics, public schools, the Chicago Housing Authority and Chicago's financial exchanges and high-profile stories that included the funeral of Pope John Paul II and Hurricane Katrina; and
WHEREAS, From 1984 to 2011 Elizabeth Brackett worked as a Midwest correspondent for "The PBS NewsHour"; and
WHEREAS, In 1984 Elizabeth Brackett won a national Emmy for her coverage ofthe U.S. farm crisis; and
WHEREAS, In 2009 Elizabeth Brackett was inducted into the Silver Circle of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett remained an active triathlete and was the recipient of five international titles in her age group; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Elizabeth Brackett serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Elizabeth Brackett to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brackett was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Elizabeth Brackett imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
