RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr., a prominent leader in global business affairs, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Loyola University Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. earned bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Loyola University Chicago; and
WHEREAS, A 2001 recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. had a successful 25-year career with Abbott Laboratories in international and domestic leadership roles; and
WHEREAS, As Dean of Loyola's School of Business from 2002 to 2004, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. added greatly to the prestige and reputation of that faculty; and
WHEREAS, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Baxter International since 2004, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. has overseen steady growth while maintaining a tireless focus on product quality and sustainability; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Loyola University Board of Directors since 2005, and vice-chair since 2012, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. supports many other worthy causes and philanthropies in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, As Chairman of the Executives' Club, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. shared his wisdom and expertise with many in our city and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Committed to serving students, alumni, faculty, and staff, Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. stands ready to build on his predecessors' success and forge a bright future for Loyola University; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of July, 2013, do hereby wish Robert L. Parkinson, Jr. much success in all his endeavors to ensure that Loyola University fulfills its mission of inspiring individuals to live up to their potential, serve their communities and take their place as global leaders and innovators; and
