RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Darrell L. Whistler has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Darrell L. Whistler was an Elmhurst civic leader and the devoted husband of Dorothy; and

 

WHEREAS, Darrell L. Whistler was the much-adored father of Donald and Denise and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Darrell L. Whistler was the dear brother of Wyona; and

 

WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Darrell L. Whistler chaired the Elmhurst Zoning and Planning Commission for 42 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Darrell L. Whistler was appointed to serve on the advisory panel in 1969 and was made Chairman in 1974, serving under nine mayors; and

 

WHEREAS, In his private life, Darrell L. Whistler worked for 36 years at Sears Roebuck & Company where he was an executive in merchandising and accounting; and

 

WHEREAS, Following a long and highly successful career with the retail giant, Darrell L. Whistler retired in 1991; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Darrell L. Whistler serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Darrell L. Whistler to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Darrell L. Whistler imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby

 

 

commemorate Darrell L. Whistler for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darrell L. Whistler.
