WHEREAS, Gloria Aguilera, a valued employee of Illinois Bell Telephone Company a subsidiary of the original AT&T, will retire after thirty-four years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special event by The Honorable John Pope, Alderman of the 10th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Gloria began her distinguished career May 4,1978 as a customer representative, later accepting a promotion as Manager in Finance. Through her journey has earned many awards as top performing leader and experienced her company take on many new names, Ameritech,SBC and AT&T; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her successes she actively participated in many organizations throughout the company; a member of HACEMOS, meaning "We Do", created Hispanic Heritage awareness throughout the company, assisting the planning of the 2007 National Scholarship Foundation Chicago Conference and facilitated benefits for the Hispanic School Scholarship Fund; and

WHEREAS, An AT&T pioneer, she participated in fundraising events such as "Secret Santa", "Coat Drive", Food Drive" and "Back to School Backpack Drive" for children of low income families. Gloria is most proud of coordinating "All Children Shall Have Shoes" project with her co-worker Brenda Carter, partnering with principals to serve children K-3"1 grade from South Suburbs to Southside Chicago Public Schools including our very own Jane Adams; and

WHEREAS, Gloria continued giving her time educating children of the 6,h grade on the corporate world as well as mentoring schools from surrounding neighborhood, Bright, Marsh and Taylor, coordinating "Job Shadow Days" allowing Bloom High School students to observe a call enter environment and discuss their future careers with the Chicago Heights management staff; and

WHEREAS, As a self-contributor to the United Way Campaign, she promoted employee participation as ...
