I transmit herewith a resolution honoring Anthony Cole on the occasion of his retirement. Your favorable consideration of this resolution will be appreciated.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Anthony A. Cole, a Chicagoan of distinction who has served on the Chicago Committee on Urban Opportunity (CCUO) for ten years, is stepping down from his position; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cole brought to the City the wisdom he gained in over 25 years of experience in the field of Human Services, including his tenure as the Vice President of Haymarket Center, the largest provider of healthcare services to addicts in Cook County, which serves more than 18,000 clients per year; and
WHEREAS, Other notable roles that Mr. Cole has undertaken include membership on the Board of Governors for the City Club of Chicago - the premier public policy forum in Illinois - and the chairmanship ofthe Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependency Association, a trade association representing over 50 agencies; and
WHEREAS, A leading figure in local public policymaking, Mr. Cole has regularly contributed to television and print media outlets, including appearances on FOX-TV, CBS and WTTW, and interviews in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and Washington Post; and
WHEREAS, As chair of the CCUO Board, Mr. Cole has played a key part in the City's participation in the federal Head Start, Early Head Start, and Community Services Block Grant programs; and
WHEREAS, Each year, these programs assist more than 55,000 Chicago residents in times of need and crisis, improving their lives, and strengthening their future prospects and capacity to achieve personal and economic self-sufficiency; and
