Resolution: Adan Mulvaney
WHEREAS, The members of the City Council of the City of Chicago wish to recognize the accomplishment of Adan Mulvaney in earning the Eagle Scout award through the Scouts in January of2021;and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been notified of this achievement by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Daughter of Nick and Kim Mulvaney, Adan Mulvaney joined Venturing Crew 1 in 2015 at the age of 13; and
WHEREAS, Within three years, Adan Mulvaney created a name for herself, attending the National Youth Leadership Training, VenturingFest, and the Summit Adventure Youth Leadership Training at the Summit Bechtel National Scout Reserve; and
WHEREAS, Adan Mulvaney has achieved numerous awards, including the Shooting Sports Award, the Ranger Award which is the highest outdoorsmanship award in Venturing, and the Summit Award for the highest achievement in Venturing; and
WHEREAS, Formally known as the Boy Scouts, the Scouts started welcoming girls to the organization in 2019, paving the way for girls to earn awards, like the Eagle Scout award, which were not previously obtainable to young women; and
WHEREAS, Adan Mulvaney joined Troop 105 in February of 2019, one of the first groups of Scouts of all genders, as one of the founding members; and
WHEREAS, Adan Mulvaney became the first Senior Patrol Leader of the Ladies Liberty Patrol; and
WHEREAS, At 19, Adan Mulvaney earned the prestigious Eagle Scout award in January 2021, the highest award one can achieve within the Scouts organization; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered this twenty-third day of June 2021, do hereby congratulate Adan Mulvaney on receiving her Eagle Scout award and paving the way for young women to earn this award in the coming years; and
