. WHEREAS, On April 10, 2017, Crossing Guard Sheila Norman retired from the Chicago Police Department following nine years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City. Council has.been info Honorable Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20th Ward; and . .
WHEREAS, Crossing Guard ,Sheila Norman, retires as a valued riiember of the 2nd District; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police
Department -"We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only
on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for
countless citizens, butalso on their.family/members;'.and 1 . ; / , ;
WHEREAS, Throughout a long and distinguished tenure, Crossing Guard Sheila Norman upheld the finest traditions of law enforcement community and her hard work, commitment arid, dedication to duty earned her the respect arid admiration of her Colleagues and the communities she protected; and
WHEREAS, Crossing Guard Sheila Norman devoted nine years of her life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of'Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
., WHEREAS, The leaders of this'-"greatCity pf Chicago are cognizant of the great debt
owed pur public servants, and extend pur sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this 13th day of December, 2017, do hereby express Pur gratitude for nine years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartfelt wishes on a pleasant retirement to Sheila Norman; and
