RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Lincoln Park, Ralph A.L. Bogan was a widely admired member of the business and investment industry and the loving husband of Sarah; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan was the much-adored father of five children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan graduated from Dartmouth College and served during World War II aboard a destroyer, the USS Stephen Decatur; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan enjoyed a long and highly successful career in the banking industry and was a co-owner of the Atlanta Braves baseball team; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan was a scion of the co-founder of the Greyhound Lines bus company where he worked early in his career; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan entered the investment business working for firms such as Dominick & Dominick and W.E. Hutton and eventually ran National Security Bank of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Ralph A.L. Bogan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Ralph A.L. Bogan was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Ralph A.L. Bogan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of June, 2013, do hereby commemorate Ralph A.L. Bogan for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ralph A.L. Bogan.
