MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Adelaide Patricia "Pat" Murphy, on October 10, 2013, at the age of seventy-seven; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on June 9, 1936, Pat was the beloved sister-in-law of Margaret L. Murphy; loving aunt of Deirdre Murphy, Martin Murphy, Jr., Colleen (Christopher) Garlington and Siobhan (Douglas Killings) Murphy; dear great-aunt of Aislinn Murphy, Marya Murphy, Sarah Garlington, Megan Killings-Murphy, Connor Garlington, Martin Killings-Murphy and Liam Killings-Murphy; cherished daughter of the late Richard and Adelaide M. Murphy; devoted sister of the late Marting R. Murphy, Sr; and, treasured friend of many. Pat leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Pat has touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, generosity, heart and spirit. As an active and vital member of her community, she was a retired teacher from the Chicago Public School System; a member of the Edgebrook Women's Club and a member of St. Mary of the Woods Parish; and
 
WHEREAS, Pat will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of November 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Adelaide Patricia "Pat" Murphy and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Adelaide Patricia "Pat" Murphy as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
