RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The .Reverend'-William J. Lion has been called to eternal life-by the wisdom of God at the age-of.83; and
WHEREAS, The, Chicago, City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The ^Reverend William J. Lion was a-widely admired member^of the religious community and the Pastor Emeritus of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish.jn Oak Lawn; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago in 1931, trie Reverend;William J. Lion was the son of the~late William and Sylvia and attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine and .St. Rita schools; and
WHEREAS, The^Reverend William J.-Lion graduated':ffom Quigley Preparatory Seminary and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary; and
WHEREAS, The^Reverend ^William J. Lion was ordained to the priesthood on April .12, 1958 by Samuel Cardinal Stritch and was first assigned to St. Agnes Parish,on Pershing- Road in Chicago; arid
WHEREAS, ThesRe'verend William J. Lion ministered-at a number of parishes, including Queen of Angels Parish in Chicago, Holy Ghost Parish in South Holland, St. "Athahasius Parish in Evanston and St. Cecelia Parish in Mount Prospect before. becoming Pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish; and
WHEREAS, ThelReyerehd^\V:illiam J. Lion served not only the faithful;; ofethe Archdiocese of Chicago, put-also the Catholic Church throughout Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The.,Reverend-William J. -Lion was a former Executive Director of the Illinois Catholic Conference and Past President ofihe National Association of State Catholic.^Conference Directors ^and
