MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Francis G. Herman, on December 28, 2103, at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The beloved husband of Darlene Herman; loving father of Paula (Jonathan) Herrmann-Silverstein, David Herrmann, Monica Herrmann, Rhonda Herrmann, Christopher Herrmann, Kenneth (Robbie) Herrmann, Stephen (Suzanne) Herrmann and Charlotte Herrmann; dear grandfather of Jakob and Jenna Herrmann, Brian (Crystal) O'Halloran and Bridget O'Halloran; cherished great grandfather of Jazmyn O'Halloran; treasured brother of Marcella Krawczykowski; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him; Francis leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of his community, Francis was a proud Lifetime Member of Local 150 Midwest Operating Engineers, with fifty years of service and he was a member of American Legion Post 485 Brunswick; Moose Lodge 828 Chicago Heights, Illinois; Knights of Columbus Queen of Angels Council St. John, Indiana and Kiwanis of Steger, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Francis G. Herman will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteenth day of January 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Francis G. Herman and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Francis G. Herman.
