MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Gary M. Wipperfurth, on February 15, 2015, at the age of seventy-two; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 13,1942, Gary was the beloved husband for twenty years to Barbara Eastman-Wipperfurth,; loving father of Edward (Lisa Hess-Marks) Marks and Peter M.; fond brother of J. Christopher (Jan) Rosson and the late Paul M.; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gary leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Gary was well known for his fun loving nature, zest and humorous style. He had a flare that made him unique. As Happy Foods "First Husband", he relished playing Santa Claus at the annual sleigh ride, as well as a frequent fixture at Happy Foods; and
WHEREAS, His life story includes the United States Army, living in Manhattan Beach, California, two sons and the "Love Story" (Barbara, whom he married on New Year's Day) that brought him to Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Active and vital in his community, Gary touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit; and
WHEREAS, Gary will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Gary M. Wipperfurth and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary M. Wipperfurth.
