RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Jerry Krause has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 77; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Krause was the legendary General Manager of the Chicago Bulls and the loving husband of Thelma; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Krause was the much-adored stepfather of Stacy and David to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Jerry Krause played baseball as a catcher at Taft High School and attended Bradley University; and

WHEREAS, A former baseball scout for the Chicago White Sox, Jerry Krause was tapped as the Bulls' General Manager in 1985 and helped to build the dynasty that featured Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen; and

WHEREAS, Considered one of the best talent evaluators in the sport of basketball, Jerry Krause was known as the executive behind the six NBA Finals that the Bulls clinched between 1991 and 1998; and

WHEREAS, Following a remarkable career during which he proved to be a true architect of the fabled team, Jerry Krause retired from the Chicago Bulls in 2003; and

WHEREAS, After leaving basketball, Jerry Krause returned to scouting for baseball teams, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jerry Krause serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jerry Krause to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jerry Krause imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby commemorate Jerry Krause for his grace-filled life and do hereby express ...
