RESOLUTION HONORING JON DEREK LYLES
WHEREAS, Jon Derek Lyles' living spirit left the body that we have come to know and arrived in the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Jon earthly journey begin as the third and youngest child of Patricia Phillips on October 17, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Jon grew up and went to school in Bolingbrook where he graduated from Bolingbrook High School and later attended Clark Atlanta University and graduated from DePaul University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing; and
'i WHEREAS, Jon's professional life was rooted in helping communities and people around the world, encouraging resource giving to improve the Quality of Life of others despite his suffering; and
WHEREAS, Jon was known for being, "On Point", "Cool", Reserved, a Team Player, a man who was always ready to join in activities that allowed him to enjoy the finer things and places in life; and
WHEREAS, he was someone who you wanted to be your "road dog", because he could make a trip a better experience for those who were looking for an incredible spirit to travel with; and
WHEREAS, he was a lover of sports and an even greater lover of being a participant, performer and teammate of every sport he undertook; and
WHEREAS, his love for music and concerts, and his ability to verbally share his experience, often provided those who were not there with a sense of presence and an emotional charge, just from him describing his experience and
WHEREAS, his absence from the body leaves those who had the pleasure of loving him, knowing him, enjoying him and gaining from the joy he brought into many lives will be missed; and
WHEREAS, his life and his legacy as a leader, mentor, trailblazer and a man of distinction commands special recognition; and now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor, and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here on July 26, 2017, do hereby mourn and honor the life and death of ...
