RESOLUTION FOR THE CHICAGO CITY COUNCIL TO URGE THE ILLINOIS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO COSPONSOR AND SUPPORT H. R. 96

 

 

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Veterans Administration is, in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, 'To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan"; and,

WHEREAS, The Veterans Administration provides health care to many veterans through its various medical centers and clinics; and,

WHEREAS, Dental care is an important part of health care, and that poor dental care is a vitally important part of overall healthcare; and,

WHEREAS, Many Americans and specifically Chicagoans, join the military knowing that it is a lifelong partnership with the United States; and,

WHEREAS, Our Veterans have earned the very best healthcare possible, something the Veterans Administration has pledged to provide; and,

WHEREAS, Taxpayers across the country pay their taxes in part to help protect Veterans that have done everything they can to protect our country; and,

WHEREAS, The Veterans Administration fails to provide dental care to most of the Veterans to whom it provides other types of health care; and,

WHEREAS, H. R. 96, before the 116th Congress, directs the Veterans Administration to treat dental care as it does other medical specialties; and,

BE IT RESOLVED, That the Chicago City Council urges the Illinois Congressional Delegation to sign on as cosponsors to H. R. 96 and to support it in any way they can.
