RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MRS. JOSEPHINE WADE 'MOTHER WADE' ON HER BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, Her family, friends and many admirers gathered Monday, April 13, 2015 to celebrate with Mrs. Josephine Wade, an enthusiastic, active and much loved resident of Chicago's great South Side, her Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Josephine Wade, affectionately called "Mother Wade" by friends and family, has greeted her customers and operated the Hard Time Josephine's Cooking restaurant in the Chatham neighborhood for over twenty years; and
WHEREAS, Hard Times Josephine's Cooking restaurant's nostalgic decor embraces treasured memories. The succulent smell of fried chicken, sweet aroma of fresh waffles and the array of pictures that covered the walls, had people standing out the door waiting to get in. Rev. Martin Luther King, Harold Washington, Chicago's former mayor, Soul Diva, Patti LaBelle along with pictures of Josephine herself, an Arkansas native and onetime maid who eventually operated restaurants throughout the south side of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Josephine Wade remains today an inspiration to all who have reached their golden years and a treasured matriarch to her grateful and loving family; and
WHEREAS, 'Mother Wade' puts her trust in her Heavenly Father and thanks Him for giving her such a long life; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8the Ward and Chairman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics, has brought this very noteworthy occasion to the attention of this august body; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered here this seventeenth day of June 2015 A.D., do hereby congratulate Mrs. Josephine Wade on the occasion of her Birthday and extend our heartiest best wishes for continued health, happiness and success in all future endeavors.
