A Resolution Commemorating the 95th Birthday of
Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton
WHEREAS, Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton was born on February 6, 1922 in Mississippi to Ida Mae Ellis and Alfred Cain; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton is a lifelong Chicagoan, who at the age of four moved with her family to the North Side of Chicago before relocating to Chicago's South Side;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton graduated from Dusable High School and went on to successfully complete nursing school; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton married Joseph Fulton and raised 14 children, who have blessed her with 30 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton mentored children from the community and is affectionately known as "Queen Mother"; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton was an active member of her local church and a committed volunteer of the National Sarcoidosis Society for over 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton is a devoted advocate to the needy. If someone was in need of clothing, she would go to her closet to dress them; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton also assisted veterans returning home to Chicago from war; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cain-Fulton is celebrated as an excellent cook and praised for her style and grace; and
WHEREAS, The life of Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton is demonstrative of model citizenship and community leadership; now therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this 22nd day of February, 2017 A.D., do hereby celebrate the 95th birthday of Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton.
