MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Ellen M. Manning, nee McVeigh, on June 26, 2015, at the age of sixty-two; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, born on December 12, 1952 to loving partents,Robert S. and Mary Ellen McVeigh. She was the devoted wife of Thomas J. Manning; treasured daughter-in-law of the late Arthur J. and Rose Manning; special sister of Cathleen (Brian Gushing) McVeigh-Cushing, Margaret (Peter) Buckstaff and Mary Frances (John) Rowe; dear sister-in-law of Barbara (John) Liberty, Ronald (Joyce) Manning, Diane (the late Robert) Lee, David (Jean), Kenneth (Nancy) Manning and Gerald (the late Patsy) Manning; fond aunt of Casey, Bobby, Peter, Ellen, Jimmy, Caitlin, Maggie and Jack; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Julie leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Active and vital as a member of her community, Ellen touched the lives of all who knew her through her energy, her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015 , do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ellen M. Manning and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
