MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Mary M. Wetzell, nee Schatz, on May 13, 2015 at the age of one hundred three; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, born on January 13, 1912, Mary was the beloved wife of the late Robert R.; loving mother of Sister Mary Lou Wetzell, BVM; cherished sister of the late Sister Mary Justina Schatz, RSM, Philip Schatz and Maryann Mason; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mary leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Mary touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character and intelligence will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Mary M. Wetzell and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary M. Wetzell as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
