RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Pat and Mike Koldyke, the founders of Golden Apple Foundation, will be honored at the organization's 30th Anniversary Celebration on September 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Foundation believes that outstanding teachers are critical to a student's success and was established to prepare resilient and successful new teachers for the profession; and
WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Foundation is dedicated to providing exceptional preparation for teachers at all stages of their careers; and
WHEREAS, Through the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Program, the foundation mentors prospective educators during and after college to ensure their lasting success; and
WHEREAS, Since 1986, the Golden Apple Foundation has annually honored ten teachers by presenting each of them with the highly coveted Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching; and
WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Academy of Educators provides a dedicated community of mentors which shares transformative teaching practices with educators throughout Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Academy of Educators has helped more than 5,000 Illinois teachers to become more effective in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the past thirty years, the Golden Apple Foundation has helped to raise the bar for quality education throughout Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The dedication and vision of Pat and Mike Koldyke serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby congratulate the Golden Apple Foundation on its 30th Anniversary and do hereby recognize the vision, passion and legacy of the organization's founders, Pat and Mike Koldyke; and
