RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. is preparing to complete his distinguished tenure as a valued member of the Chicago Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. was appointed to the Chicago Board of Education in September 2002 and served faithfully for more than eight years; and
WHEREAS, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. currently acts as President of CBSS USA, a firm which provides financial, operational, and business consulting expertise and services; and
WHEREAS, For twenty-one years, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. held a variety of executive positions with Banco Popular North America, the nation's largest Hispanic-owned bank; and
WHEREAS, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. currently serves as a Board Trustee to the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund, and prior to his appointment to the Chicago Board of Education, served as a member of the City Colleges of Chicago Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. maintains membership in the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials and is a Financial Committee Member with the Institute of Puerto Rican Art and Culture; and
WHEREAS, Along with his fellow Board Members, Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. has worked diligently to ensure that Chicago's public schools provide all students with an excellent academic foundation and a safe learning environment; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this fourth day of May, 2011, do hereby express our gratitude to Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. for his years of public service to the more than four-hundred-thousand students currently enrolled in Chicago's public schools; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alberto A. Carrero, Jr.
