MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Mustafa Celik on June 24, 2016 at the age of eighty-eight; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Born on July 1, 1927, Mustafa was the beloved husband of Erika, nee Gajewski; loving father of Ibrahim "Abe" (Christine), Ferid "Fred" (June) and Hanifa (James) Doyle; cherished grandfather of Shawn (Sarah) and Mitchell (Katherine) Celik, Sarah (Dean) Fletcher, Paula and Jacob Celik, Fallon and Olivia Doyle and the late Danielle Celik; dearest great grandfather of Erika and Mary Celik, Charlotte and Britton Fletcher and Ellie Celik; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mustafa leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and

 

WHEREAS, Mustafa immigrated to the United States in the 1950's and began working at House of Vision in Chicago, as an optician, where he worked for many years. He finished his career as an optician at Lenscrafters and retired to Wisconsin. Mustafa touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit, making him a truly unforgettable person. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his smile, caring spirit, enduring patience and throughfulness will live on in those who knew and loved him, now, therefore,

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth day of July, 2016, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Mustafa Celik and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

 

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Mustafa Celik as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
