Resolution Honoring Rickover Naval Academy
WHEREAS, on Sunday, September 6th, 2020, Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy will be celebrating their sixteenth school opening anniversary at 5700 W. Berteau Avenue, Chicago, IL; and,
WHEREAS, Admiral Hyman G. Rickover was a 1917 Chicago Public School graduate; and,
WHEREAS, each student's aspiration stems from the school motto "Discens, Ductu, Servatu," which is translated to "Learning to Lead in Order to Serve;" and,
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago and all Chicagoans are better off because ofthe Rickover Naval Academy, its students and staff; and,
WHEREAS, Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy is named after a man who was committed "to excellence and uncompromising devotion to duty" as former President Ronald Reagan once stated; and,
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed ofthis by the 38th Ward Alderman Nicholas Sposato; and,
WHEREAS, This Resolution has been authored by 2020 Rickover alumni Lisa Marie Sanders; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-second day of July 2020, do hereby express our congratulations to Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy for their sixteenth school opening anniversary; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to Principal, Mr. Michael Biela and Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy.
