RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Elmhurst, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, was a widely admired member of the medical profession and the loving husband of Mary Baker; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II was the much-adored father of Deborah and Daria and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished physician, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, served as Chairman of Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago Medical School and co-founded the institution's medical helicopter program, which transports critically ill patients between hospitals or from the scene of an accident; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, was among the group of physicians who founded the Emergency Medical Service Systems of Chicago, which coordinates the services of paramedics and other emergency medical care providers throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker) II, graduated from Loyola University's Stritch School of Medicine and earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, After nearly a decade with the University of Chicago's Medical School faculty, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, served as a senior emergency room physician at several Chicago-area hospitals; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, co-edited what was considered the first definitive textbook on emergency medicine, and served as President of the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians; and
WHEREAS, Having suffered with diabetes since childhood, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, possessed a passion for healing and treated his patients with sincere empathy; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank J. Baker, II, will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends, and colleagues; and
