RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING GUADALUPE RAMOS
WHEREAS, Guadalupe (Lupe) Ramos was born on December 12, 1927. She consequently will be celebrating her 90th birthday; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward, has apprised the members of the chamber of this remarkable woman's auspicious milestone; and
WHEREAS, Guadalupe was born in Algonquin, Illinois to Cesario and Angela Amaro on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is one of nine siblings: Angelina Torres, Lawrence Estrada, the late Bruno Amaro, Dimas Amaro, Josephine Kruas, John Amaro, Phillip Amaro, and Cesario Amaro; and
WHEREAS, Lupe attended Dante Elementary School and Richards High School. Her first job was working in a candy store and later at Demet Candy Company, which is still in business today; and
WHEREAS, Lupe has also worked at Bremner Brothers, Wrigley Chewing Gum Factory, and Cinch/TRW as a Precision Inspector; and
WHEREAS, During World War II, Lupe worked at Blackstone making rivets for airplanes and a factory packing dried egg particles for soldiers; and
WHEREAS, Lupe married Bruno Ramos in Chicago and together they had six children: John Sanchez, Dolores Lopez, Alice Ceja, Bruno Ramos Jr, Phillip Ramos, and Rosalinda Olivares. She has seventeen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Lupe lovingly cared for her husband Bruno until he passed on January 10, 2005; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 13th Day of December, 2017, do hereby congratulate Guadalupe Ramos on her 90th birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Rose Brixy.
