RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore has officially announced his retirement after serving with distinction for three terms as Cook County Recorder of Deeds; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his retirement by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore was sworn in as Cook County Recorder of Deeds on January 20,1999; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his esteemed tenure the Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore worked to modernize the office and successfully converted all microfilm to digital images for all documents dating back to 1985, as well as imaged all tract book information held by the Recorder's office; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore implemented a new state-of-the-art cashiering system and a more efficient and effective accounting system; and
WHEREAS, Under the Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore the office implemented the most in-depth internet access site in the state of Illinois powered by a technologically advanced database; and
WHEREAS, Among his major accomplishments, the Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore instituted a process that allows for documents to be recorded electronically in Cook County; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore has worked to eliminate property and consumer fraud, hosted property tax seminars, assisted residents with property tax appeals and exemptions and sponsored Back To School and Senior picnics; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore, is an avid supporter of youth mentoring, scholarships, sports and academic programs; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2012, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Eugene "Gene" Moore on his retirement and do hereby express our appreciation for his dedicated and able service; and
