RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE LIFE OF DAVID WILLIS HILL, SR.

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called to his eternal reward, David Willis Hill, Sr., beloved citizen and friend, Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 83; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward has informed this august body of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Bom August 17, 1929 in Faunsdale, Alabama, David was the loving son of Waverly and Viola (Green) Hill. David was the fifth of nine children born to the loving and caring parents. He and his four sisters, Bettie, Fannie, Bessie and Viola along with his four brothers, Waverly, William Bryant, Edward and Johnnie brought laughter and joy into the Hill Family home. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church and participated joyously with the congregation; and

WHEREAS, Dave, as his family and friends fondly knew him, was a graduate of Perry County Training School and attended Alabama State University until he was drafted to serve in the Korean Conflict. David received an Honorable Discharge from the service and moved to Chicago to begin a new life. In 1951 he was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Dr. Joan M. Payne. Dave and Joan shared sixty-two years of Wedded Bliss. This loving couple was blessed with two children, Pamela and David (Skip); and

WHEREAS, Dave was employed at General Motors as a millwright for 35 years and as a Cook County Sheriff for 20 years. He retired in 1987 to spend more quality time with his family members and his many friends. Mr. David Willis Hill, Sr. was an advocate member of the 34th Ward Regular Democratic Organization; and

WHEREAS, David Willis Hill, Sr., a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
