IN TRIBUTE TO ERIC CHARLES SMITH

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom chose to bring his beloved son, Eric Charles Smith to his eternal reward on August 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith entered the world on October 25,1949 in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of Charles Henry Smith and Nettie Louise Smith; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a distinguished firefighter who retired in 2003 with 25 years of service in the Chicago Fire Department and a great lover of Softball, skating and drawing; and

WHEREAS, Eric Charles Smith leaves many dear family and friends behind to cherish his life and memory: three children, Brandi (Dinez), Eric Jr. and Tiffany (Isaac); four siblings, Ermal (Marschlle), Sheila (Lester), Reginald (Myrtle), and Kathy; two grandchildren, Denezia and Takeo; a close companion Norma Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and

WHEREAS, This august body has been notified of Mr. Eric Charles Smith's transition by the esteemed Alderman of the 9^th Ward, Anthony A. Beale; and

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council gathered together this 16^th day of October, 2013 do hereby express our sorrow at the passing of Eric Charles Smith and extend our deepest condolences to members of his family and the many persons whose lives he touched.
