MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR JOHN GARRIDO, SR.
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness we learn of John Garrido, Sr.'s passing; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Garrido was a first generation Mexican American raised in, the Chicago neighborhood of Bridgeport by parents Augustina and Juan; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Garrido was a Chicagoan through and through, making his family, friends and City proud every single day; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Garrido was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua grade school at 28th and Wallace, later attending both De La Salle Institute and Kelly High School; and,
WHEREAS, In his early twenties, Mr. Garrido enlisted in the United States Army and became an official member ofthe 101st Airborne Division, marking the beginning of his dedication to a life of serving others; and,
WHEREAS, Shortly after returning from the United States Army, Mr. Garrido spent nearly forty years as a respected member ofthe Chicago Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, He undeniably loved helping others, often finding himself assisting those seeking the opportunities he felt fortunate to have; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Garrido taught everyone around him to always wear a smile, and truly live a life as colorful as his outfits; and,
WHEREAS, He was always surrounded by much love and success, he was most proud of his children, John, Joe, Jennifer, Brianna, Emily, and Melissa; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here on 16th Day of December, 2020, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of John Garrido, Sr., and extend our sincere^condolences to his family; and,
