MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Catherine "Cathy" J. Nylen , on July 15. 2014, at the age of fifty-five; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Cathy, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, was the beloved wife of Thomas Nylen for thirty-five years; loving mother of Michael (Jenny) Nylen, Amanda (Steve) Carnell and Katie (Nate) Greer; devoted grandmother of Michaihley Schmidt, Stephen Carnell, Seth Carnell, Donovan Carnell, Riley Nylen and Bianca Greer; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, Cathy leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Cathy was an active and vital member of her community who touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, generosity and spirit; and
WHEREAS, Cathy will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirtieth day of July 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Catherine "Cathy" J. Nylen and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Catherine "Cathy" J. Nylen as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
