Recognition of Patrick Sinozich Day
WHEREAS Patrick Sinozich is in his 50th production after spending 18 years as Artistic Director of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus (CGMC); and
WHEREAS he has arranged hundreds of songs for CGMC, and written original works for this chorus and other choruses in New York, Washington DC, Kansas City Mo., Cincinnati, Albuquerque and Palm Springs; and
WHEREAS Patrick led the chorus to four GALA Festivals in San Jose (2000), Miami (2004), Montreal (2008) and Denver (2012); and
WHEREAS Patrick has produced 5 CDs with CGMC and 3 each with Windy City and Chicago a cappella; and
WHEREAS, while growing up in Ohio, Patrick was taught piano by his mother, an accomplished pianist, and he surpassed her skills while he was in elementary school; and
WHEREAS, Patrick is a former Franciscan and was a classmate with Alderman James Cappleman; and
WHEREAS Patrick is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (1981) and received a Master of Music degree in piano from Northwestern University (1988); and
WHEREAS, from 1988 -1992, Patrick was a CGMC Accompanist and captured the public's attention in two successive holiday shows as Liberace (1988), and the Lawrence Welk Show's Jo Ann Castle (1989); and
WHEREAS, from 1992 -1994, Patrick was the Windy City accompanist and was later their Interim Artistic Director; and
WHEREAS in 1995, Patrick was an Accompanist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and
WHEREAS from 2002 - 2009, Patrick was the Principal Accompanist for the Grant Park Music Festival; and
WHEREAS in 2003, Patrick directed the first appearance by a gay chorus (CGMC) singing the national anthem at Wrigley Field; and
WHEREAS, Patrick rote the critically-acclaimed "Ten Commandments: The Musical" with Bill Larkin in 2006; and
WHEREAS in 2007, Patrick was the Artistic Director for Chicago a cappella; and
WHEREAS in 2009, Patrick was inducted into the Chicago Gay & Lesbian Hall of Fame; and
