MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His infinite Wisdom has called Mamie Marie Mitts, most beloved citizen to her eternal reward, June 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Mitts was born August 11,1926 in Malvern, Arkansas to William Summerville and Jamie Smith. She was one of eight siblings born to this union; and
WHEREAS, Mamie was a phenomenal women that lived a rich and full life. She was the mother of 12 children and one stepson, some of whom preceded her in death: Joetta, David, and Scott; son-in-law Thomas, whom she loved and cherished as one of her own, and grandson Jermaine; and
WHEREAS, Mamie loved going to church where she was a member of the Usher Board and later became a member of the Mother's Board. She also enjoyed music and dancing especially showing her grandchildren how to dance; and
WHEREAS, Mamie's heart was so big it had room for everyone she crossed paths with. Her love is instilled in the hearts of many and her memory will live forever; and
WHEREAS, She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters Opal (Jimmie), Iris (Anthony), Marilyn, Michelle (Thomas), Sons-Joecephus Jr. (Shantele), James(La Birtha), Lorenzo (Betty), Charles, Steve, Bennie (Tina)- 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor of the City of Chicago and members of the City Council gathered this twenty first day of October, take this opportunity to recognize the years that Mamie has provided for the City of Chicago and,

Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to the family of Mamie Mitts as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
