RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-seven; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham was a widely admired civic leader and the loving wife for fifty-three years of the late Daryl F.; and
WHEREAS, Raised near 58th and Indiana, Gloria B. Grisham was a member of Pilgrim Baptists Church where her mother was a pianist and choir director; and •
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham attended DuSable High School and both Herzl Junior College and a business college; and
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham worked for the United States Department of Labor and for State Senator C.C. Wimbish; and
WHEREAS, Along with her husband, who was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Parker Sausage Company, Gloria B. Grisham donated generously to many philanthropic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham was active in the Chicago Child Care Society, the DuSable Museum of African-American History, the United Negro College Fund and other organizations; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, Gloria B. Grisham was an avid bridge player who took great pride in her home; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Gloria B. Grisham to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Gloria B. Grisham will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her sister, Jeanne Materre, and her beloved family, Gloria B. Grisham imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby commemorate Gloria B. Grisham for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
